Whole army shot

new set up

That’s every painted imperial guard unit so far.

I’ve got the pysker battle squad to finish, and there might be some new additions the more I reflect on how units performed in a recent game. but that’s another post.

Here you see one of the game board sections set up as a photo “set”. I need to clean up how I’ve masked off the back, and throw another light into it, and as I said it needs some more work before I take many close-ups, but it looks okay.

It wont be often that I take whole army shots, its more likely to be used for this kind of thing -

Hope you enjoyed those, I’ll try and upload the stages of board building, as I did take pics, however I took them on my phone and essentially in the dark, so they are pants.

  1. The total army shot looks wonderful. I've been really enjoying what you have been doing with the terrain. Moody and magnificent would be my thought....perfect for the Imperial Guard !

  2. What really amazes me about this is that, had I not been watching the evolution of this tables, I would have thought this section custom built specifically and entirely for the purpose of displaying this army; each really augments the other. Brilliant work.

  3. These are some nice photos of an excellent army!
Army, table, and paint are one nice unit - I love it!

  4. Very nice. I love the Fall colors too.
    Nice touch to the board.

  5. Excellent, simply excellent. Not much to add, really.

Wish I had terrain as good to photograph my stuff on. Alas my table (which doesn't even look half as good as yours) is in a completely different place than my armies. No way I could transport it all..

  6. Very Nice indeed.
I really like the terrain board you displayed them on too. The fall scheme is nice, and not seen too often in 40k.

  7. Very nice.

(I am trying to sound appreciative, rather than bland).

  8. Thankyou so much guys,

It's always very encouraging when people whose work you admire drop by and comment to say theyve enjoyed something you've posted, so thakyou again, all of you.

Brian, - it's got me really stoked to make a "proper" display board for them, I just need to finalise the list for the tourney so I know how much room I will need. I also need to work on wieght as the section pictured weighs a ton :)

Ron, Lucky, I love Autumn colours, and my five armies (really? five? sheesh) are all either blue/grey (wolves, =][=, smurfs) and therefore a compliment, or yellow.tan.brown (Guard and Orks) so I couldnt go wrong with these colours for any of my guys I don't think.

I may however need to rethink the snow bases on my wolves :)

Hal'jin, theres no real need for such a big board, I could make a 2'x2' section, just for pictures, and solely out of foam, as could you, it would be a good "set" and wiegh very little.

Zzz.. that's how it was taken mate, thanks :)

over the next week or so I'll try and get some pictures up of how I went about this, most notably the board, which should go up today, and the trees, which might be next week, as I'm low on bases.

I'm also happy if anyone wants to know how I did anything in particular to answer those questions, what i've done here is just a matter of the right materials and instructions, and I honestly beleive anyone can do this.

  9. That is one very nice looking Army. Nice to see someone painting and collecting models they like to go with their Army rather than for gaming terms. I love your colour scheme, and your conversions are really good. Can't wait to see what you do in the future and you are a great insparation for others.

  10. Thanks Dave, :)
I think I'll always be a modeller first, gamer second, not least because of the sheer scant number of games I manage in a year.

That said, I have in light of recent descisions to try a tournament, been looking at the effectiveness of my units.

sadly this also seems to just be an exercise in justifying buying more models i like..

"but I Neeeed it for the tournament!"
